Early on Wednesday morning, a huge fire that damaged goods valued at crores of rupees broke out at the Banaja Store, a four-story business complex located close to Cinema Square and under the jurisdiction of the Balasore Town Police Station.
Initial investigations indicate that an electrical short circuit is thought to have caused the incident. Firecrackers that were kept on the building's upper story are said to have contributed to the fire's quick spread. Within minutes, the entire building was covered in thick smoke and flames, which caused alarm among the local inhabitants and business owners.
Soon after receiving the alarm, Balasore firefighters hurried to the spot. The crew fought the fire for hours before putting it under control, and other fire tenders were called into action. Thankfully, the incident has not resulted in any recorded casualties or injuries.
However, because huge inventories of products were converted to ashes, the estimated property loss is between Rs 4 and Rs 5 crore. While experts from the fire services department look into the precise cause of the incident, police have blocked off the area to keep anyone from moving.
At approximately 11:15 p.m., we closed the store. I believe a short circuit could be the source of the fire, even though the precise cause is unknown. According to the building's owner, cosmetics valued at Rs 7 to 8 crore were stored in the structure.
