Heavy rain, hailstorms, and strong winds pounded several regions of Odisha on Monday, upsetting daily routines and causing damage to crops in some places.
Hailstones and heavy rain were seen in districts including Koraput, Bargarh, and Subarnapur. Strong winds were followed by protracted periods of rain and hail in numerous locations, which caused inhabitants to become alarmed.
Potangi, Gangarajpur, and Sunki in the Koraput district reported significant rainfall when dark clouds unexpectedly formed and produced torrential showers. Similarly, there was a hailstorm, strong winds, and a lot of rain in the Binika area of the Subarnapur district. Following an abrupt cloud formation, areas like Singhijuba, Jampali, Balaranga, Dendupadar, Sarguna, Sindurpur, and Khairmal recorded constant rainfall.
In certain areas, standing crops have suffered due to the unseasonable weather, which has farmers worried about possible losses.
In the meantime, a Yellow Warning for thunderstorms with lightning, rain, and strong winds has been issued for the state for two days beginning Tuesday by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The Yellow Warning has been issued for up to eighteen districts, including Sundargarh, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Keonjhar, Jajpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nuapada, Jharsuguda, Ganjam, Gajapati, and Bargarh.
