According to a post made on X by the Department of Commerce under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Africa is becoming a significant market for India's sweet biscuit exports, reflecting rising demand for Indian culinary goods and strengthening trade relations.
According to the Department, Indian sweet biscuits are "steadily expanding their presence across global markets," underscoring India's increasing export of value-added foods and improved regional market access. It further stated that India's ongoing integration with international consumer markets is reflected in the growing reach of Indian food exports across developed and emerging economies.
India exported 344.2 thousand tonnes of sweet biscuits in FY 2025–2026, according to the Ministry of Commerce. The Department pointed out that an increase in exports indicates a growing demand for India's processed food items abroad."Africa is emerging as an important market for India's sweet biscuit exports," the Department stated, highlighting Africa's expanding significance in India's export scene. It also noted that the continent's rapidly expanding consumer economies are fostering closer trade ties with India.
The post additionally noted that the "increasing presence of Indian sweet biscuits across African markets highlights deepening commercial engagement and the strengthening of India's value-added food exports in emerging regions."
According to the Department's post, Kenya has become India's second-largest export market for sweet biscuits.
