An Odisha woman was raped by her boyfriend and then thrown from a building by a bystander.

In the Jagatsinghpur region of Odisha, a 23-year-old lady was raped twice in one day in different locations by her lover and a stranger who was trying to help her. She was then thrown from a four-story structure, which ultimately killed her, according to police on Friday.

The two suspects were detained by police and charged with kidnapping, rape, and murder under several BNS sections. The incident happened on February 22 after the woman left her home with plans to elope with her lover, who had promised to marry her and urged her to visit a temple. But he took her to a remote location, sexually assaulted her, and left her at the Rahama bus stop," Jagatsinghpur Superintendent of Police Ankit Kumar Verma said reporters today.

Another man from Jharkhand, who was riding his motorcycle to neighboring Paradip, noticed the unfortunate woman waiting at the bus stop and offered assistance.
However, according to the SP, he led her to the top of his leased home in Paradip town and sexually assaulted her once more.
He added that the woman's body was discovered the following morning after the accused tossed her off the building's roof, killing her.
According to the SP, on February 25, the victim's brother filed a complaint at the Paradip Model police station, claiming that his sister had been raped and killed on February 22. On February 23, after the woman's body was recovered, an unnatural death complaint was filed. When his sister failed to come home in the evening of February 22, the woman's brother filed a missing persons report at the Tirtol police station.
Naveen Patnaik, the leader of the opposition in the state parliament and the supremo of the BJD, denounced the incident and called for justice for the woman and other victims of recent rapes. How many more innocent people will perish? Nobody is safe, not even minors or young women with disabilities. So, does the state still uphold the rule of law? It is quite upsetting to hear of the horrible crimes occurring in Paradip, Kuchinda in Sambalpur, and Kanhari in Angul. He wrote, "O Mother, chaos and insecurity everywhere!" in an X post.

"The situation on the ground is really concerning, even while the administration makes drawn-out statements about women's safety and law and order. There is a general air of terror, even throughout the day. The government's inaction in the face of several cases of such heinous crimes is giving the criminals more confidence. "The government ought to take proactive measures to raise awareness about women's safety and guarantee that the state upholds the rule of law," the former chief minister continued.
