In Sunday's Major League Soccer Florida derby, Inter Miami overcame a 2-0 deficit to defeat Orlando City 4-2 thanks to two goals from Lionel Messi. After losing their season opener last week, reigning MLS champions Miami appeared to be on the verge of another loss as Orlando easily took a 2-0 lead in the first half in front of their home crowd. After eighteen minutes, Miami gave up control in midfield, and Croatian international winger Marco Pasalic opened the score with a low goal from Ivan Angulo's cross.
After a strong run by right defender Griffin Dorsey, who laid off into the path of Argentine striker Martin Ojeda to bury the finish, Orlando took a 2-0 lead six minutes later.
Midway through the first half, Messi and Argentina international teammate Rodrigo DePaul both came near to regaining the lead as Miami rallied.
In the 28th minute, Canadian international goalkeeper Maxime Crepeau of Orlando parried a rasping long-range shot from De Paul. Shortly after, Crepeau made another outstanding save to keep Messi out of the area.
But in the 49th minute, substitute Mateo Silvetti gave Miami a lifeline with a 25-yard screamer, changing the course of the match.
Eight minutes later, Messi collected the ball on the outskirts of the area and sent a left-footed shot past Crepeau to make it 2-2.In the ninetieth minute, Messi completed the comeback by sliding a long-range, low free shot under Crepeau to make it 4-2.
