At Lords, England crushes Pakistan by 194 runs to clinch the cricket series with one test remaining

In the second cricket test at Lord's on Sunday, England easily won its first test series since December 2024 with a match remaining after defeating Pakistan by 194 runs in four days.
About 45 minutes after tea, Pakistan was unavoidably bowled for 194 in a difficult pursuit of 389. Saud Shakeel was caught on the boundary for an excruciating 97, the highest score for either team in the series, and led his team's first batting resistance.
Imam-ul-Haq, the opening batsman, never showed up after rupturing his left calf muscle on the first day, therefore England only managed to capture 18 wickets.
With eight wickets, including 4-24 on Sunday and an incredible 8-35 in 27 overs during the game, Ollie Robinson led England's four seamers.

"It helps to have three (other) guys who bowl at 90 mph, it allows me to just dot up at one end and build the pressure," he stated. "Jofra Archer, who bowls so fast and swings the ball away from me, is a pretty good combination to start the bowling session. May it last for a long time."
Under new captain Joe Root and temporary coach Marcus Trescothick until Stephen Fleming returns next month, England has won a series on its first try in the post-Bazball era.It feels fantastic and is well-deserved. "The guys have been great," Root said to the BBC.

Fair credit to Saud; I thought he played well, but the boys' unrelenting approach made it seem like we would win in the end."Starting on September 9 in Birmingham, they will aim for a 3-0 whitewash of Pakistan.
Robinson was left stranded on 99 as Pakistan lost for the tenth time in its previous eleven away tests. Shakeel's perseverance against Robinson's unrelenting line and length and Archer's scorching pace was the afternoon's high point due to its lack of batting grit throughout the series—it still hasn't reached a 200 total.

For over four hours, England was frustrated by Shakeel and Shan Masood's 97-run partnership from 14-3.
However, Robinson ended the collaboration when he pinned Masood an hour after a postponed tea. Robinson didn't bowl again after swiftly adding Mohammad Rizwan, his 99th test wicket.
Despite scoring 5 and 14 in the innings loss in Leeds last week, Shakeel maintained a 51 average versus England despite missing the previous test series in the Caribbean. Despite being fired as captain in May, Masood was kept on because of his expertise.

While the 1.68-meter (5-foot-6) Shakeel delivered the majority of the blows, Masood tightened the hatches. They were secure and unthreatened by lunchtime.
After lunch, England's irritation was evident as they repeatedly and futilely sought the umpires to review the ball and, for the second time in the series, used Dan Lawrence's part-time off-spin.Shakeel, meanwhile, scored 50 off 54 balls, his second half-century outside of Asia and his fifteenth in tests.

When Robinson returned, England's breakthrough came when he trapped Masood leg stump, out for 26 from 72 balls, with wicketkeeper Jamie Smith up at the stumps. They resisted for twenty-three overs.
After Mohammad Rizwan missed a swing on 1 and was hit in the crotch, plumb in front of off stump, Robinson had 3-15 and then 4-17. Robinson has taken 23 wickets at an average of 8 in three tests during his brief but spectacular summer. In June, he defeated New Zealand 7-77, and in Leeds, he defeated Pakistan 8-80. Ian Botham in 1984–85 and Steve Harmison in 2003–04 were the most recent England bowlers to take at least seven wickets in three straight games.
Shakeel's amazing lone hand accelerated as just the tailenders remained. Josh Tongue reached 97 thanks to two sixes and a boundary in a single over. However, Tongue was caught at backward square leg after another blow. A standing ovation greeted Shakeel as he walked off.
Twenty minutes later, Tongue took the final two wickets to end the game.
Mohammad Abbas, a 36-year-old medium-pacer from Pakistan who made the Lord's honors board for the first time with a score of 5-57, was also praised. When Abbas returned to action on 3-48, he dismissed Robinson and Lawrence, the England innings high scorer with 54, after Rizwan made a deft catch at the stumps, punched the air, and bowed on the field. After Yasir Shah's 10-141 in 2016, he had the second-best bowling stats for Pakistan at the renowned venue with 9-130.
