Ayush Shetty advances to the quarter-finals, but PV Sindhu and HS Prannoy lose in the Badminton Asia Championships.

Young Indian shuttler Ayush Shetty advanced to the men's singles quarterfinals of the Badminton Asia Championships with an outstanding straight-game victory, but veteran PV Sindhu was ousted from the women's event in Ningbo, China, on Thursday. World number 25 Ayush, the defending US Open Super 300 champion, defeated his world number 20 competitor, Chinese Taipei's Chi Yu Jen, 21-16, 21-12, in a convincing performance. He will then face third-seeded Jonatan Christie of Indonesia.

However, the remainder of the Indian contingent had a poor day.
Sindhu, a two-time Olympic winner, lost 18-21, 8-21 against second seed Wang Zhiyi of China in a 46-minute last-16 stage match.
HS Prannoy, back from a shoulder injury, fought hard but fell 12-21, 19-21 to China's Weng Hong Yang.
Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto were eliminated in mixed doubles after losing 13-21, 14-21 to fourth-seeded Malaysians Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei.
Later in the day, Unnati Hooda, Priya Konjengbam, and Shruti Mishra will compete in the women's doubles match.Ayush dominated the game by using his height to unleash sharp smashes and maintaining tight control at the net.
The first game was closely contested early on, with the score tied at 4-4 before Chi went ahead 10-6.
Ayush battled his way back after the break, drawing level at 12-12 before seizing control as Chi struggled with his length and made a series of unforced errors.
The Indians took an 18-14 lead and cruised to victory.
In the second game, Ayush took an early 4-0 lead before Chi caught up briefly.
The Indians regained their flow and lead 11-7 at halftime, never looking back, with to forceful returns and precise net play, to reach 16-9.
