There has recently been a security worry in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, as politicians and celebrities have been the focus of bomb threats delivered by email. The most recent to experience such a fear is music composer Ilaiyaraaja. The bomb hoax on Tuesday was directed at the composer's T Nagar studio, according to a report by The Hindu. This is what took place.
According to the report, the DGP's office and Ilaiyaraaja received an email on Tuesday alleging that an explosive was planted in his studio. After being informed, the police, along with the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS), hurried to the composer's studio and carried out a thorough check.
The police verified that the threat was a hoax, and an investigation showed that the email, which was sent from a Hotmail account, resembled others that had been addressed to other VIPs in Chennai in recent weeks. The issue is being looked at by the City Police and Cyber Crime.
Bomb threats were sent to Vijay and Trisha Krishnan.
Emails to DGP on October 2 claimed that bombs had been planted at the homes and offices of a number of VIPs, including actors Shekher in Mandaveli and Trisha in Teyanampet. After racing to the sites, the BDDS discovered nothing unusual.
According to PTI, on October 9, Shabik, 37, was taken into custody by the police after he called the police control room regarding the placement of a bomb at the home of actor and Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) president Vijay in Neelankarai. After searching the actor-politician's home from 3:00 until 7:25 AM, the BDDS also discovered that call to be a fraud.
These bomb threats have also been directed against the Raj Bhavan in Guindy, the Bharatiya Janata Party office in T Nagar, and politicians such as Chief Minister MK Stalin, Governor RN Ravi, Naam Tamilar Katchi coordinator Seeman, and Leader of the Opposition Edappadi K Palaniswami.
