BRICS Is A Dollar Attack": Trump Says US Tariffs Caused Countries To Leave the Bloc

Washington: US President Donald Trump has asserted that the BRICS was "an attack on the dollar" in order to justify his tariff strategy against them. Speaking at the White House, the US leader threatened to put tariffs on the member nations for trying to replace the US currency, claiming that they were "dropping out" of the bloc.

"That's okay, but we're going to impose tariffs on your country if you want to join BRICS," I said. Everyone left. During a White House meeting with Argentine Prime Minister Javier Milei, Trump declared, "They're all leaving BRICS."

"Anyone who want to deal in dollars has an advantage over those who don't, and I'm extremely strong on the dollar... I replied, "You want to play that game, I'm going to put tariffs on all of your products coming into the US." BRICS was an attack on the currency. Like I mentioned, they said, we're leaving BRICS. They no longer even discuss it," he continued.
Trump's remarks coincided with a resurgence of international discussion on the BRICS grouping's purported drive for other trade methods in order to reduce their dependency on the currency. The action directly threatens US financial dominance if it is put into effect.

Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa were the original members of the BRICS alliance, which has since grown to include new countries.

India's Position Regarding the BRICS Currency
In the meantime, India has made it clear that it has no intention of undermining the dollar's influence and has taken a conciliationist approach to the matter. According to Foreign Minister S Jaishankar, India has no problem with the dollar.
