Even after his team easily defeated Zimbabwe in the T20 World Cup Super 8 match on Thursday, Indian cricket team all-rounder Shivam Dube received a harsh sentence. Despite Dube giving up 46 runs in two overs, India defeated Zimbabwe by 72 runs. He also bowled four wides and a no-ball because his delivery went outside the pitch, which made the situation worse. His performance did not impress former England captain Michael Vaughan, who stated that future performances could indicate that India is not in a strong position. He added that India captain Suryakumar Yadav would not have asked Dube to bowl those overs if the game was not all but over for Zimbabwe.
"In two overs, the sixth bowling option has gone for 46. I doubt Dube would bowl those two overs in a different game. The captain only gave him a few overs since he knew he was done winning. The remainder of the bowling was decent, so I won't make too much of that. However, Vaughan stated on Cricbuzz, "If he bowls again, it indicates that India is having trouble."Their goal before they started was to bowl Zimbabwe out for less than 108. However, you could tell that the intensity was diminished once it didn't occur.
Prior to the game, India crushed Zimbabwe by 72 runs in their crucial Super 8 match to maintain their hopes of making the semifinals, thanks to scorching half-centuries from Abhishek Sharma and Hardik Pandya.
After Zimbabwe decided to bowl, Abhishek added 48 runs for the first wicket with Sanju Samson (24) after smashing a quick 30-ball 55 to give the team early momentum.
Before Pandya struck an undefeated 23-ball 50 at the end to lead India to 256 for four, the highest total of this tournament, Ishan Kishan (38) and Suryakumar Yadav (33) contributed quickly.
Tilak Varma and Pandya put on an uninterrupted 84-run partnership off just 31 deliveries, with Varma contributing 44 not out from 14 balls.Zimbabwe was held to 184 for six in their 20 overs, with Brian Bennett leading the way with an undefeated 97.
With statistics of three for 24, India's Arshdeep Singh was the most effective bowler.
Despite taking wickets, Zimbabwe's captain Sikandar Raza (1/29), Richard Ngarava (1/62), Blessing Muzarabani (1/43), and Tinotenda Maposa (1/40) were unable to stop India's offensive assault.
