Because of the Ketu-grasta moon eclipse tonight, Lord Jagannath's sacred Suna Besha rite at the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri will take place at night. In light of the celestial event and related religious customs, the ceremonial decorating of the gods with gold ornaments, which was traditionally performed during the day, has been rescheduled.
Temple sources claim that the planned rites were finished in the early hours of the day after the temple doors were opened at 1:00 am. However, in accordance with established norms observed during an eclipse time, Devaniti (daily ritual practices) have been discontinued starting at 6:08 am.
Chalanti Pratima's Procession
In accordance with custom, Dola Gobinda, Bhudevi, Sridevi, and Chalanti Pratima will go to the Dolabedi in the Mani Bimana after receiving the Agyan Mala of Lord Jagannath. The gods typically play with abir and phagu in front of worshipers throughout the rite.
Darshan of Dola Gobinda on this occasion is seen as extremely auspicious, according to Jagannath cultural specialist Surya Narayan Rath Sharma. He mentioned that as part of the observance, Dola Gobinda will make 35 circumambulations and execute Mandira Parikrama seven times. The administration of the temple has promised that all ceremonies would be carried out strictly in compliance with established customs and eclipse-related regulations.
