Following explosive Yunus Regime claims, the president of Bangladesh is blasted by the Jamaat chief.

The chairman of Bangladesh's hardline Jamaat-e-Islami party, Shafiqur Rahman, has launched a vicious attack on the country's president, just days after Mohammed Shahabuddin discussed the abuse he endured under Muhammad Yunus's prior government following Sheikh Hasina's overthrow in 2024. The head of Jamaat, who also serves as the head of the opposition in the Bangladeshi Parliament, charged that the President had concealed important details on what happened on August 5, 2024, the day Hasina resigned and was compelled to leave the country with a majority of Muslims.
Rahman mentioned Shahabuddin's recent interview with Bangladesh's Bangali newspaper Kaler Kantho, in which he discussed his experiences after the July uprising-induced political shift, in a post on his verified Facebook page. Rahman claimed, "The president has withheld many facts regarding August 5, 2024."

"His current comments do not represent what he told the leaders in attendance that day about the purported resignation of the [ousted] prime minister and what he subsequently communicated to the country. In reference to the dispute surrounding Sheikh Hasina's missing resignation letter, he remarked, "What he is saying now is not what he said that day."Will the president make sense of what he said then and what he says now in light of what millions of people heard that day? Rahman enquired.
The people is still fully aware of the events surrounding the political change, he continued. "The country is not gullible. Such behavior from the state's highest authority is intolerable," Rahman continued.

The Jamaat chairman unintentionally revealed the connection between Yunus's interim government and Islamist organizations in Bangladesh by criticizing the President.
After the August 2024 rebellion, Yunus was repeatedly accused of encouraging, aiding, or enabling extremist Islamist militants by Hasina, her Awami League party, and other observers during his 18-month term.
Hasina's Resignation Controversy
Shahabuddin declared in a televised speech that Hasina had "tendered her resignation letter to the president, and I have received it," just hours after she had left Bangladesh on August 5, 2025." According to the constitution, Hasina's resignation was necessary to validate the establishment of Yunus's transitional government. But two months later, the President asserted that he had no proof of Hasina's resignation and had only "heard" about it. "I made numerous unsuccessful attempts to obtain the resignation letter. In October 2024, he told the Bangladeshi daily Janatar Chokh, "Perhaps she didn't have the time."
He eventually overcame the call for his dismissal that resulted from his shift in position. The president of Bangladesh has said that the Yunus regime continuously attempted to remove him from the highest position.
