Foreign nationals were among the guests at Malviya Nagar during the Delhi hotel fire that claimed 21 lives

A large fire broke out at a restaurant-turned-hotel building in Delhi's Malviya Nagar neighbourhood on Wednesday morning, leaving at least 21 people dead and numerous others injured. According to sources, many of the hotel's visitors were foreigners who had travelled to India seeking medical care.
The Delhi Fire Services (DFS), police, and district authorities launched a massive rescue effort when the fire broke out at the Lemon Green Restaurant, which is housed in the basement of the five-story Florist Inn Hotel in Hauz Rani.
Several fire tenders were dispatched to the scene after a call about the incident was received at 9:45 a.m., according to officials. Dozens of people were trapped inside the structure as dense smoke swiftly filled it.In CATS ambulances, the rescued individuals were transported to neighbouring hospitals for medical attention.
According to sources, the motel had about 25 rooms and was hosting up to 40 people at the time of the event. The majority of them were foreigners who had come to Delhi for medical treatment.
The fire is thought to have started in a restaurant
After learning about the event, authorities promptly triggered emergency response mechanisms, according to Jitendra Kumar, SDM, DDMA, South District."We activated our DDMA cell as soon as I learned about the incident this morning. Every EOC was notified and told to arrive to the location right away. I came here instead of leaving for a training program that I was meant to attend. When we got there, we discovered that the building's ground floor was used as a restaurant. Although the precise cause of the fire is yet unknown, the restaurant is most likely where it started. We do not yet have all the information, though. After being found, four bodies were taken to the hospital. We are seeking formal confirmation of their identities and condition.

Despite difficult conditions within the structure, officials reported that search and firefighting activities lasted for several hours.
