Drone monitoring eventually led to the capture of Saifullah, the most sought Jaish commander from Pakistan, who had been eluding security services for months. Hours before the encounter, personnel from Delta Force's 11 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) were stationed just meters from his hiding place, and his movements were meticulously watched. One of the Army officials in charge of Operation Trashi 1, which was started in the Chhatroo region of Kishtwar, Jammu and Kashmir, said, "Our soldiers waited patiently, feeding real-time updates to their seniors."
Security personnel threw stones at the roof of the deserted mudhouse where Saifullah and two others were hiding as morning broke in an attempt to elicit a reaction, but nothing happened. Then, in an attempt to agitate them, they attempted another tactic: shouting insults.
There was no reaction to this try either.
Army Dog Tyson was deployed at that point. Saifullah fired fire as Tyson, an assault dog, entered the house, wounding the courageous dog. As a result of their whereabouts being revealed, security guards quickly surrounded the house.
Saifullah had already escaped 20 times after breaking through cordons. It was frequently rumored by the locals that Saifullah disappeared from behind the cordon using some sort of wizardry. A subordinate security force officer who was part in the operation stated, "This time, we wanted to show them the truth and prove them wrong."
A barrage of gunfire greeted Saifullah and his companions as they tried to escape on Sunday morning.Saifullah's tale came to an end when a rocket launcher was used to blast the dhok. In the process, his M4 gun, made in the United States, was burned.
According to intelligence, Saifullah had only taken up residence in the dhok a few hours prior to the meeting, with the assistance of an Over Ground Worker (OGW) who supplied food and other necessities. A shovel was present in the mudhouse, suggesting that it will eventually be reinforced into an advanced bunker. Its advantageous placement in a forested region and close to a road made it a perfect hiding place that the locals didn't suspect.
Saifullah was a resident of the Keri Sarafali village in the Abbottabad district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. In 2018, he became a member of the terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammad. He had training in Samanah Hills, Abbottabad, and Balakot
In December 2023, after completing his advanced armaments training, he was transported to a launchpad and smuggled into India. He and his companions had been working in the Kishtwar region for the past two and a half years.
An intense thirst for vengeance was sparked among the officers and soldiers of this Delta Force after Saifullah and his men ambushed and killed two army servicemen in September of last year, including a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) of 11 RR. "We vowed to avenge our fallen comrades, and finally, we've sent Saifullah and his men to their reckoning," an army official remarked in a satisfied tone..
