Security forces have stepped up their efforts against Shukru, a hardline Maoist leader who is allegedly becoming a significant hindrance to Odisha's anti-Maoist campaign.
Sources claim that Shukru has been pursuing other Maoists who are trying to give up and integrate into society.
He is charged with eradicating them rather than letting them go from the armed movement. Concerns of growing internal dissension among the Maoist ranks have been aroused by the recent assassination of a cadre named Anvesh in the Kandhamal jungles.
According to officials, Shukru and about thirty armed cadres, including two senior KKBN division members, are presently engaged in the Kandhamal region. According to intelligence, the gang is attempting to reorganize and bolster its presence in strategically significant forested areas.
The Odisha Police have responded by creating a unique operational plan to eliminate Shukru and his cronies. Since February 20, security officers have tightened the perimeter in suspected hiding places within the Kandhamal forest as part of a massive combing operation.
According to sources, drones are being used for aerial surveillance in order to monitor the Maoist leader's movements. In order to step up the search effort, 13 more Special Operations Group (SOG) teams are scheduled to be deployed into the forest region.Although security officials have not disclosed particular tactics, they have stated that constant pressure will be used until the group is destroyed.
