In order to reduce traffic, Bhubaneswar will receive a new arterial road valued at Rs 77 crore; the project would be completed in 18 months.

The Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) has issued a Rs 77-crore tender for the construction of a 45-meter-wide road connecting Guru Kelucharan Park in Gadakana to Patia train station, a major step to alleviate growing traffic congestion.
The roughly 3-kilometer road will be finished in 18 months as part of a comprehensive development plan that aims to provide alternative arterial corridors, according to a report published in The Times of India. The high traffic on the crowded Jaydev Vihar-Nandankanan road is anticipated to be lessened with the new section.
Following a required public hearing under the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013, BDA started the purchase of about 18 acres of private land.

The route would enhance access to important residential areas like Patia, Chandrasekharpur, Gadakana, and Damana once it is open. Additionally, it will improve access to surrounding IT and institutional hubs, such as the Infocity region, as well as the Patia railway station.
According to officials, the project is a part of a bigger plan to build six alternate roadways to improve traffic flow around the city, three on each side of the Jaydev Vihar-Nandankanan corridor.
According to experts, by increasing land value and promoting commercial development, the new road may also increase economic activity in the rapidly expanding Patia belt. The project has now entered a critical implementation phase with the tender being issued, giving commuters who deal with everyday congestion hope.
