"It Just Felt Right" is how Farhan Akhtar explains his decision to support Boong, the winner of BAFTA.

With the film, which was backed by Farhan Akhtar, receiving a lot of praise, Boong's BAFTA victory has turned into a proud occasion for Indian cinema. Farhan, who backed the project from the beginning, offered sincere thoughts on the accomplishment.
The Best Children's & Family Film award went to the Manipuri-language movie Boong. Among the formidable foreign competitors, such as Arco, Lilo & Stitch, and Zootropolis 2, the poignant drama, supported by Farhan Akhtar, stood out.
The victory is significant for Indian cinema, particularly for Northeastern storytelling. It demonstrates how local films with straightforward and sincere stories can appeal to viewers all across the world.
The fact that Farhan Akhtar and his wife, Shibani Dandekar, attended the event made it much more special for the film's production team.

Farhan responded to the victory and explained his decision to support the movie by saying, "I've known Lakshmipriya Devi for about 20 years. This movie takes place in an area of India that we don't often get to see movies from. It's a pretty touching narrative, and it was good to support that as well. Thus, it seemed appropriate.
Concerning Boong
Boong, which was directed by Lakshmipriya Devi, is about a little kid who lives in Manipur amid a period of political and social unrest. In Manipuri, the title translates to "little boy".

The movie centers on Gugun Kipgen's character Boong, who longs to be with his family again. He thinks that his mother, Mandakini (Bala Hijam), would be happy once more if he brought his lost father home. In pursuit of his father, Boong journeys to the border town of Moreh and even enters Myanmar with the assistance of his best friend Raju, portrayed by Angom Sanamatum.
Boong was shown at a number of foreign film festivals prior to its September 2025 theatrical release. After making its debut at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2024, it went on to win accolades from critics at the Warsaw International Film Festival, the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne, and the MAMI Mumbai Film Festival.
