The Taliban Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi's journey to India and the "respect and reception" he received there were condemned by poet, filmmaker, and lyricist Javed Akhtar on Monday. Akhtar referred to the Taliban as the "worst terrorist group" and bemoaned the hospitable reception its emissary had in a nation such as India.
The respect and reception shown to the spokesman of the Taliban, the greatest terrorist organisation in the world, by people who beat the pulpit against all types of terrorists makes me feel ashamed," Akhtar said on X.
Additionally, he attacked the "reverent" reception Muttaqi received at the Darul Uloom Deoband Islamic seminary in the Saharanpur district of Uttar Pradesh.
Shame on Deoband as well for welcoming their "Islamic Hero," who is among those who have outright prohibited girls' education, with such reverence. What is happening to us, my Indian brothers and sisters?" Akhtar's post went on to say.
