Kerala Assembly Election 2026: Mohanlal, Mammootty, and Malayalam celebrities vote

Malayalam actors Mammootty, Mohanlal, Dulquer Salmaan, and Prithviraj Sukumaran voted in the Kerala Assembly Elections 2026. Their appearance at numerous polling sites was widely publicised on social media, highlighting the ongoing democratic process.
Mammootty was seen voting with his wife, Sulfath Kutty, at a Kochi polling booth. The veteran actor appeared wearing a brown long-sleeved shirt and black sunglasses, exuding a calm and quiet approach. His participation emphasised the role of public figures in increasing voting turnout.

Mammootty's son, Dulquer Salmaan, was also seen leaving the polling station. Prithviraj Sukumaran voted at a station in Kochi, Ernakulam, while Mohanlal voted early in the morning and posted a selfie of his tattooed finger encouraging supporters to vote.
The Election Commission of India recorded a 16.2% early voter participation in Kerala as of 9 a.m. More than 2.6 crore voters are eligible to vote in this election, which comprises 883 candidates competing for 140 constituencies. According to official estimates, the electorate is made up of 1,38,27,319 women, 1,31,26,048 males, and 277 people who identify as third gender.

To make voting easier, authorities have set up 30,471 polling locations throughout the state. These are supported by 119 logistics and voting machine distribution centers, as well as 41 counting centers.
Rathan U Kelkar, Kerala Chief Electoral Officer, announced that 1.46 lakh trained polling officials will be deployed statewide to ensure the polls go smoothly.
The presence of notable Malayalam actors at polling places has heightened popular interest in the election process, emphasising the importance of voter involvement in the democratic activity.
