Former chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and his deputy Manish Sisodia have been exonerated by a Delhi court in an alleged corruption case involving the creation of a new policy to sell alcohol in the nation's capital. The court ruled that the excise policy lacked both criminal intent and a broad conspiracy.
When the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and his assistant were in power in Delhi, the issue—later known as the Delhi liquor policy case—caused them a great deal of grief.
The dispute began with the AAP administration's 2021–2022 liquor policy, which the then-Kejriwal government said would generate significantly more money than the previous model.
Later, the Delhi government abandoned it.
"We've always maintained that the truth prevails in the end. The truth is with us, I used to say. A current chief minister was taken from his house and imprisoned. "We were thrown mud," Kejriwal told reporters outside the central Delhi court.
The former chief minister, while speaking, broke down.
The problems the AAP's top leaders encountered with the excise policy were largely responsible for the party's defeat in the most recent assembly election.
