Odisha wants additional money to promote pulses

In order to cover an area of two lakh hectares, the state administration has asked the Center to boost the allocation for the pulse demonstration program from Rs 24.74 crore to Rs 200 crore.
During Friday's national kharif conference in New Delhi, the government sent a memorandum to the Center. Additionally, it requested that the Ministry of Agriculture release Rs 80.5 crore for the yearly action plan for the digital crop survey, of which Rs 42.75 crore has already been authorised.The Center was asked to boost aid for spices like ginger and turmeric to Rs 1.50 lakh per hectare, enhance the borewell subsidy to Rs 1 lakh, and provide barbed wire fence to prevent the threat of elephants. The session was attended by representatives from the Agriculture department and Deputy Chief Minister KV Singh Deo. According to Singh Deo, Odisha's agriculture industry expanded at a remarkable pace of 5.3% in 2025–2026, surpassing the 3.1% national average. The harvest of more than 150 lakh tonnes of agricultural grains and 156 lakh tonnes of horticultural crops served as the foundation for this momentum.

Additionally, he stated that Odisha has established a Rs 240 crore corpus fund to supply 11.43 lakh tonnes of fertilisers and a Rs 100 crore corpus fund to supply four lakh quintals of certified seeds.
