Panic is caused by an ammonia gas leak at a Bhubaneswar cold storage facility.

Late Friday night, there was a complaint of an ammonia gas leak at a cold storage facility in a potato warehouse in Aiginia, Bhubaneswar. Residents were concerned about the leak, which started at around 1:00 am, because it smelled strongly and made their eyes and noses irritated.
After nearly four hours of action, during which time the site was repaired, Fire Services workers managed to bring the situation under control.
The Source of the Leak and Emergency Action
Reports state that the leak happened close to the storage facility's refill section. Employees of the fire department quickly identified the leak's origin and took action to stop it. After two fire teams arrived on the scene, the situation was under control.

Following intelligence, police officers also arrived at the scene and helped to secure the area. As a precaution, all employees within the storage facility were evacuated right away.
After repairs were finished, the smell in the neighborhood diminished, but it persisted within the storage facility, where access was prohibited.
Residents Are Issued An Advisory
Residents in the area were instructed by police and fire officials to keep their doors and windows closed since the gas irritated their eyes and caused breathing problems. Additionally, local authorities issued notifications asking residents to avoid congregating close to the site and to wear masks when traveling in the region."We saw a fire at around 12:45 am," a neighborhood resident stated. The fire was out of control when the fire department arrived and sprayed water. About 25 to 30 more fire brigades were sent out. Additionally, the Police SP arrived on the site and helped with the evacuation of the area. He had also arrived earlier in the day to assess the circumstances.
Shops in the vicinity were closed at the time of reporting as residents took precautions to avoid any unfavorable events.
