PM Modi travels to South Africa to attend the G20 conference.

In keeping with India's vision of "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam" and "One Earth, One Family, and One Future," Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on Friday, November 21, 2025, that he will travel to South Africa for three days to attend the inaugural G20 summit in Johannesburg.
The G20 Summit is being held on the African continent for the first time.
"I'll be in Johannesburg, South Africa, for the G20 Summit. The fact that this summit is taking place in Africa makes it very unique. There, a variety of international topics will be covered. Mr. Modi wrote on X, "Will be meeting various world leaders during the Summit."

The Prime Minister is anticipated to have bilateral discussions with a few of the leaders in Johannesburg during the summit. There, he will also be present at the sixth IBSA Summit.
I'll give India's viewpoint: Modi
"I will present India's perspective at the Summit in line with our vision of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam" and "One earth, One Family, and One Future," the Prime Minister declared in his farewell statement.
At President Cyril Ramaphosa's invitation, he will travel to South Africa from November 22–23 to attend the 20th G20 Leaders' Summit while South Africa is in charge. Given that this will be the first G20 summit to be held in Africa, it will be very noteworthy.Mr. Modi stated, "I look forward to my interactions with the leaders of the partner countries and participation in the 6th IBSA Summit scheduled on the sidelines of the Summit."
He continued, "I also look forward to interacting with the Indian diaspora in South Africa, which is one of the largest outside of India, during the visit."
Prime Minister Modi is anticipated to address in each of the Summit's three sessions, according to a statement released by the Ministry of External Affairs on Tuesday.
"Inclusive and Sustainable Economic Growth Leaving No One Behind: Building our economies, the role of trade, financing for development, and the debt burden" is one of the Summit's three sessions.

"A Resilient World – the G20’s Contribution: Disaster Risk Reduction, Climate Change, Just Energy Transitions, Food Systems" and "A Fair and a Just Future for All: Critical Minerals, Decent Work, Artificial Intelligence" are the other two sessions.
On Thursday, a senior MEA official stated that all significant issues pertinent to India and the Global South will be "highlighted by our leadership," but he did not want to predict what will be included in the leaders' statement.
The group will hold its summit in the Global South for the fourth time in a row.Prior to South Africa, Brazil (2024), India (2023), and Indonesia (2022) were the G20 presidents.
Prime Minister Modi announced the African Union's permanent membership in the group of the world's 20 largest economies during the G20 Summit in New Delhi in 2023.
According to the G20 website, its members comprise the largest economies in the world, accounting for 85% of global GDP, 75% of international trade, and two-thirds of the world's population.
Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkiye, the United Kingdom, the United States, the European Union, and the African Union are among its members.
