Another violent outburst occurred in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir following a crackdown by Pakistani security forces on civilians in Rawalakot, which led to fighting close to the city's New Bus Terminal. During skirmishes, Pakistani military opened fire, killing six civilians.
Zahid Mughal, Zafar Mughal, Arsalan Akbar, and Wajid Hayat, who perished at the Matial Mira Bus Terminal in Rawalokot, were among those slain in the Baloch Sadhunati district.
Tensions in the area, where hostility toward Islamabad has been slowly rising, have been further heightened by the most recent incident.
The White House Hears PoK Voices
Members of the American community in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir assembled outside the White House in Washington just one day prior to the violence, calling for international attention to what they characterized as a fast worsening humanitarian catastrophe in the area.Women, kids, and local officials were among the over 100 participants in the protest. Protesters asked the international community to take action against what they claimed was the use of deadly force on defenseless civilians and demanded that Pakistani military forces leave civilian areas throughout Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
Additionally, the protesters emphasized a protracted internet outage that they said had cut off almost four million people from the outside world. Locals made an unprecedented plea, asking India to step in to aid with humanitarian assistance efforts and save lives.
They also insisted on opening the Line of Control via the Poonch and Doda regions so that impacted citizens may get humanitarian aid.Beyond the most recent altercations, locals are still experiencing severe financial hardship.
More than 57% of families experience food insecurity, despite the fact that over 66% of the population depends on farming and livestock for survival, according to a 2025 study published in Nature. The percentage of undernourished residents is close to 29%, which is significantly higher than Pakistan's national average of 19.9%. Up to 90% of households in the region's hilly areas experience food insecurity, making the situation even worse.

India Attacks Pakistan over PoK Demonstrations
In a statement released on Tuesday, the Ministry of External Affairs denounced the ongoing demonstrations and claimed that "systematic exploitation" was the cause of the conflicts.According to Randhir Jaiswal, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs, "Pakistan's decades-long systemic exploitation, denial of fundamental rights, and administrative oppression in areas under its illegal and forcible occupation are directly responsible for the ongoing protests in PoJK."
Pakistan was criticized by the Foreign Ministry for enforcing internet outages, police brutality, and the obstruction of necessary supplies."Rather than addressing the legitimate grievances of the local populace, the Pakistani state has responded with extreme police brutality, including against helpless women and children, blocking essential supplies, including food and medicine, enforcing internet blackouts, and deploying lethal force against unarmed civilians that has resulted in tragic fatalities," he stated.
India stated that Pakistan's crackdown on civilians should be held responsible by the international community.
