Sooryavanshi has a significant lead in the Orange Cap race at the end of IPL 2026.

When Gujarat Titans (GT) faced Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Qualifier 2, three individuals who had been around the top of the Orange Cap chart for the majority of IPL 2026—even occasionally reaching the top—were playing. Even though we had a new No. 1 on the Purple Cap list, this is what transpired there.

Orange Cap Leaderboard
On Friday night in New Chandigarh, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, B Sai Sudharsan, and Shubman Gill were all out in the middle, and they all performed admirably.
Before falling for a 29-ball 97, Sooryavanshi went first in the match after threatening to shatter the record for the fastest century in IPL history. Before falling for a 29-ball 97, Sooryavanshi went first in the match after threatening to shatter the record for the fastest century in IPL history. Despite being somewhat restrained by the conditions, he was slower this time and managed to reach 96 in 47 balls, missing his second century of the year. Despite this, he managed to end the season with 776 runs at an amazing strike rate of 237.30.
Gill, who spearheaded GT's chase with 104 off 53 balls, was the evening's hero. That increased his season total to 722 runs, which is still 54 below Sooryavanshi's tally. However, unlike Sooryavanshi, Gill still has one game remaining. Before falling for a 29-ball 97, Sooryavanshi went first in the match after threatening to shatter the record for the fastest century in IPL history. This also applies to Sai Sudharsan. Sai Sudharsan appeared to be in excellent form, making 58 runs in 32 balls and forming a 167-run partnership with Gill for the first wicket in the chase before being out hit wicket for the second time in as many games. At the end of it, he reached 710 runs.
Gill and Sai Sudharsan will be thinking about that cap and the IPL trophy when GT plays Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the final on Sunday. However, Virat Kohli, who is now the most prolific RCB batsman with 600 runs, may find the double thrill too far off.

Purple Cap Leaderboard
After taking the wickets of Dhruv Jurel in the second over of the RR innings and Sooryavanshi in the eighteenth, Kagiso Rabada, Bhuvneshwar Kumar's closest rival for the season, is now wearing the Purple Cap. Rabada is now two wickets ahead of Bhuvneshwar with 28 wickets, and the two will face off in the final.Jofra Archer, another bowler who had a chance to reach the top after taking three wickets in consecutive games, finished the season with 25 wickets and third place in the rankings after returning 1 for 45 against GT.
Jason Holder performed amazingly well in the face of Sooryavanshi's assault, returning 2 for 27 from four overs, whereas Rashid Khan was costly and went wicketless in Qualifier 2 (2-0-45-0).
