The Bhubaneswar Metro Rail project is critical for Bikashita Odisha; BJP government asked to reconsider

The desire for a metro rail project in Bhubaneswar has regained traction, with city Mayor Sulochana Das forcefully urging its execution on Thursday. She added that a metro system is critical to the State Capital's increasing urban infrastructure and questioned why the project was suspended despite early progress.
Mayor Das addressed the issue, stating that while metro projects are functioning in numerous cities around the country, it is unknown why Bhubaneswar's project was cancelled. She underlined the importance of a metro system for a "Bikashita Odisha" and reiterated the need to reconsider the decision.
The Mayor also stated that attempts would be made to persuade the State Government to reconsider and resuscitate the metro rail project.

She added that the initiative would considerably boost urban transportation and promote the city's rapid growth.
"The Bhubaneswar Metro Rail project was not done solely for the city's recognition. Along with city recognition, the metro is required while discussing our economic region and Odisha's status as a developing state. Because, as you can see, it has already been completed in 25 cities. So, why doesn't it happen in our city? What is the difficulty in our city? We are still requesting the State Government. This is not simply about people's emotions. This city needs to expand. We need a tube. Therefore, it is vitally necessary that the metro rail be developed," stated Sulochana Das.

Sasmit Patra, a Rajya Sabha MP from the BJD, also expressed strong support for the establishment of a metro railway system in the capital city.
Meanwhile, the matter has created a political discussion, with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) replying to BJD leaders' assertions. The argument reveals conflicting opinions on Odisha's urban development ambitions.
"Faced with an existential dilemma, the Biju Janata Dal has moved forward, as has Rajya Sabha MP Sasmit Patra. He, too, is experiencing existential crisis. Naveen Patnaik ousted him as parliamentary party leader yesterday. As a result, he has sought sanctuary in a drama to protect his position."If he asks his commander, Naveen Babu, about the metro project he is currently discussing, he will be able to explain it more clearly. Because he (Sasmit Patra) is an uninformed leader, Naveen Babu's understanding on the subject is far superior; he would be able to explain how the metro project came to be and in what state of Odisha," the BJP spokesperson stated.
"Whether the metro rail project existed or not, was this metro project presented to the voters before to the election in order to obtain votes? "He should enquire about it with the leader of his party, Naveen Patnaik," the BJP official remarked.

As debates continue, the future of the Bhubaneswar metro project remains unknown, although there is a definite demand for upgraded public transport infrastructure.
