Sanju Samson of India was selected the ICC Men's Player of the Month for March after a successful run at the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026.
Speaking about the honour, Samson considered the significance of the prize at this point in his cricket career.
"It's an amazing feeling to win the ICC Player of the Month title, especially as it coincides with the most memorable part of my cricket career. It took some time for the significance of participating in India's victory at the Men's T20 World Cup to properly sink in, but it was a dream come true.
"With incredible potential all around, this is an exciting time for Indian cricket. I'm appreciative of the chances I've had as well as the confidence and encouragement I've received from my teammates and coaching staff, which have enabled me to provide my best effort."
When Samson wins the monthly honour, a player from a different nation had won it for the previous five months. Simon Harmer from South Africa, Mitchell Starc from Australia, Daryl Mitchell from New Zealand, and Sahibzada Farhan from Pakistan are all part of the run.
Sanju was eventually called up for India's crucial Super 8 matches despite not being a consistent member of the starting lineup in the early stages of the competition. Samson regained up form and didn't look back after opening with 24 against Zimbabwe on February 26.On March 1, he narrowly missed a century against the West Indies by three runs, but his aggressive 97* helped India advance to the semi-final.
India reached 253/7 against England at the Wankhede thanks to a scorching 89, and the English were unable to reach the goal, missing out by seven runs on March 5.
During India's successful championship defence in Ahmedabad, an equally incredible 89 was cranked out, securing a 96-run victory.
Samson scored 275 runs at an incredible average of 137.50 and a remarkable strike rate of 199.27 in the three pivotal Twenty20 Internationals he participated in in March 2026.
