A significant political event ahead of impending local body elections occurred on Wednesday when the Odisha Janata Congress, a new regional political organization led by former Congress MLA Mohammed Moquim, was formally introduced in the State.
Hundreds of supporters gathered for the party's inauguration event at the Exhibition Ground in Bhubaneswar, where the party's foundation was set.
Leadership and Party Formation
According to reports, Mohammed Moquim would be the inaugural president of the Odisha Janata Congress, which was established with an emphasis on involving the state's young. In the months leading up to its official launch, the party held a number of events in 15 districts.

The launch event was also attended by Mohammed Moquim's daughter, Sofia Firdous, a suspended Congress MLA. Amid the development of the new political organization, her attendance at the event attracted attention.

Mohammed Moquim declared that the Odisha Janata Congress would run in the next municipal and panchayat elections after the party was formed.Speaking to the crowd, he also urged young people to step up and actively participate in determining the party's organisational structure and destiny.
