In order to prepare the master plan for the projected New City near the capital, which is anticipated to be finished in the next nine months, the Housing and Urban Development department held a stakeholder engagement meeting on Friday.
A market feasibility study for the urban development project has already been carried out with the help of international consulting firm JLL, according to Usha Padhee, additional chief secretary of the Housing and Urban Development department, who chaired the meeting. The master plan is being prepared by Surbana Jurong Infrastructure Private Ltd (SJI), Singapore.
The conference was attended by members of SJI and JLL, as well as representatives from the departments of Forest, Works, IT, and Industries, as well as vice-chairman of the Bhubaneswar Development Authority Chanchal Rana. In September 2025, the "New City Development" plan received in-principle approval from the state cabinet.
The project, which spans around 800 acres in the mouzas of Gothapatna, Malipada, and Daspur, is intended to be a multi-economic growth zone in line with Viksit Odisha 2036.
