Tragic error: Three kids in Balasore go sick after ingesting insecticide

Thimet, a very deadly agricultural insecticide, was mistakenly consumed by three youngsters from Shalabani village under Mahisapatta panchayat in Nilagiri block of Balasore district when they were playing on Thursday. As a result, they were admitted to the hospital.
Yuvraj Singh (8), son of Babula Singh; Indurekha Singh (5), daughter of Akshay Singh; and Ghanashyam Singh (4), son of Ramesh Singh, were reportedly playing the traditional mud-kitchen game with coconut shells on Thursday afternoon, according to local reports.
They tried to mimic real cooking by putting dirt in coconut shells while preparing pretend meals. One of the kids allegedly took Thimet from a house during the procedure, thinking it was cooking salt. They unintentionally ingested the chemical after combining it with chopped onions.

By nighttime, the kids started exhibiting signs of poisoning, such as nausea, extreme pain, and lightheadedness. Family members hurried them to the Nilagiri Sub-Divisional Hospital for emergency care after becoming alarmed by their condition. All three were later transferred to Remuna Medical College in Balasore for more advanced care as their conditions became severe.
