What does Shashi Tharoor have to say to Congress? MP adds, "This is how democracy should work," regarding the Trump-Mamdani meeting.

On Saturday, Congressman Shashi Tharoor responded to the meeting between New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani and US President Donald Trump.
The Friday encounter between Trump and Mamdani at the White House was full of camaraderie, despite the fact that both had taken jabs at one another in the run-up to the New York mayoral elections.
In response to a video of the meeting, Tharoor stated that he would "love to see more of this in India" and that "this is how democracy should work."
"In elections, fight fervently for your beliefs without regard to rhetorical barriers.Tharoor added, "But once it's over and the people have spoken, learn to cooperate with each other in the common interests of the nation you are both pledged to serve." He added that he was attempting to contribute to the achievement of the same equation in India.
After the discussion, Trump told reporters in the Oval Office that it was very "productive" and that New York would "hopefully have a great mayor."
Trump lavished praise on Mamdani, stating that he was "confident" the Democrat would perform a "good job" and that he would "surprise some Conservative people."

"I am unable to provide you with first-hand information because I was not invited to campaign in Bihar. He added, "But I've been talking to people," adding that he had a sense of what needed to be examined.

"You are free to say that. It's simpler than trying to explain it. Trump remarked, "I don't mind."
Tharoor's moments of annoyance with Congress
The Thiruvananthapuram MP's admiration for Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the most recent of Tharoor's comments that have caused controversy inside the Congress party.
Tharoor wrote on X that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Ramnath Goenka Lecture was a cultural call to action as much as an economic viewpoint. "Despite battling a bad cold and cough," he continued, he was "glad" to be in the audience for the address.
Congress politician Sandeep Dikshit called him a "hypocrite" in response to his remarks, which received harsh criticism from his own party. Supriya Shrinate, another party leader, stated that she did not find the PM's address to be "praiseworthy."

Additionally, Tharoor infuriated his party officials with a piece titled "Indian Politics Are a Family Business" for the international media outlet Project Syndicate. Tharoor described dynastic politics as a "grave threat" to Indian democracy and emphasized that it permeates all political ideologies.
Tharoor stated that there would need to be "some very serious introspection" in the wake of the Bihar Assembly election results. He added that he was not invited to run for office in Bihar. "I don't just mean introspection, sitting and thinking, but also studying what went wrong, what were the tactical, messaging, or organizational mistakes," he stated.
