Thirteen persons were killed in an explosion at a plant in Qatar's Ras Laffan Industrial City, including twelve Indians, according to officials on Monday.The Indian Embassy in Doha posted on X that "Qatari authorities have confirmed that 12 Indian nationals have unfortunately passed away in the Ras Laffan incident yesterday night."
It stated that all injured people are receiving the proper medical care and are in stable condition, citing Qatari authorities.In order to provide all assistance to the Indian nationals and their families impacted by this occurrence, including making sure that the deceased's mortal remains are returned to India as soon as possible, our Embassy is closely collaborating with the Qatari authorities," it continued.

The Indian Embassy had earlier expressed "deep concern at the unfortunate incident" in which a number of persons were hurt and others were reported missing.The Indian Embassy and the whole Indian community in Qatar stand in solidarity with the government and people of Qatar during this trying and trying moment. We hope and pray for the safety of those who are missing and wish for the quick recovery of those who have been hurt," it stated.
The Ministry of Interior said in a separate statement that a "technical malfunction" during operations was the cause of the tragedy, which left 66 persons of different nationalities injured and 13 dead.
It stated that security personnel responded to the incident right away, coordinating with Ras Laffan emergency response teams and carrying out authorized emergency protocols on the scene.The ministry added that there is no risk to public safety or the environment and that no leaks were found as a result of the incident.
The local gas supply facility in Barzan had an explosion and fire on Sunday night as a result of an incident that happened during the start-up of operations, according to QatarEnergy.
