After Congress, TVK asks VCK for support as Vijays search for allies intensifies

After winning a landslide victory in the Tamil Nadu elections last month, the most recent South Indian movie hero to enter politics has stepped up his search for allies. Actor Vijay, the leader of the newly formed Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, has written to Thol Thirumavalan, the leader of the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), asking for his help in forming the state's next government.
According to VCK executives, they have not yet made a decision regarding the request.
Additionally, Vijay has requested cooperation from the Congress, CPI, CPM, and other DMK allies.
According to a senior, the Congress, which has five seats, has already made the decision to back Vijay if he forms the government. The TVK defeated the government DMK, led by MK Stalin, handily in last month's state elections, emerging as the single largest party in the Tamil Nadu assembly. Vijay's party won 108 of the 234 seats in the state, falling only 10 seats short of the halfway point. The AIADMK won 47 seats, while the DMK was reduced to just 59 seats.
Vijay ran for the seats of Perambur and Trichy East. He prevailed in both. He is expected to give up Trichy East and keep the latter, according to sources. A bypoll will be held in the vacant seat if that occurs.
