After winning the 10-meter air pistol world championship, Samrat Rana says, "I still cant believe."

Samrat Rana, who became the first Indian pistol shooter to win a gold medal in an Olympic event at the ISSF World Championships on Monday, was startled yet ecstatic. In the men's 10-meter air pistol competition, the 20-year-old from Karnal put on an incredible display, firing 243.7 in a thrilling final to take first place ahead of Hu Kai of China.
Shortly after winning, an emotional Rana remarked, "I still can't believe it." For me, it's a joyful hunting field. At the 2022 Junior World Championships in Cairo, I took home two medals. The atmosphere appeals to me. In the final shots, all I was attempting to do was concentrate on my technique.

In a final where the lead alternated between him, Hu Kai, and fellow Indian Varun Tomar several times, Rana, who has been trained by his father since 2018, showed steely nerves. The result was determined by a single shot, and Rana defeated the Chinese shooter by a mere 0.4 points.
Varun Tomar won the bronze medal with a score of 221.7, adding to India's historic day. The 21-year-old Baghpat native, who is the cousin of Olympic pistol champion Saurabh Chaudhary, displayed incredible poise during the championship match. In addition to highlighting India's increasing dominance in pistol shooting, his performance was the first time two Indian shooters had placed on the podium in the same World Championship event.

Rana had previously won the qualifying round with an incredible score of 586, just ahead of Tomar, who had less inner 10s but matched his total. Together with Shravan Kumar, the two helped India win the team gold with a total of 1754.
Since Rana and Tomar are the first Indian shooters to win medals in the same event at the World Championships, the young marksman's victory is a significant turning point for Indian shooting.
Rana saw the triumph as a kind of personal atonement. He came back stronger and more determined in Cairo after narrowly missing out on qualifying for the ISSF World Cup final in Ningbo earlier this year.He said, "I just kept telling myself to maintain my composure and have faith in my process." "Seeing everything come together at last feels unreal."
