Angul man saves two lives by donating kidneys after being diagnosed as brain dead.

Angul resident Biswajit Das has posthumously emerged as a symbol of inspiration after donating both his kidneys and giving new life to two patients in need. Biswajit suffered critical injuries in an accident nearly a week ago and was admitted to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar for treatment. Despite medical efforts, doctors declared him brain dead.

Following the declaration, and with the consent of his family members, doctors proceeded with the retrieval of both kidneys. One of the kidneys was transplanted to a patient at the same private hospital, while the other was transported to SCB Medical College & Hospital in Cuttack.

Successful Transplant at SCB Cuttack

At SCB Medical College & Hospital, the second kidney was successfully transplanted into a young man named Sunil Nayak from Jagatsinghpur area. Sunil had been undergoing dialysis treatment for the last five years as both of his kidneys had failed.

The transplant procedure was carried out with the cooperation of the nephrology, urology, and anaesthesia departments at SCB Medical. The medical team ensured a smooth and successful surgery, giving Sunil a renewed chance at life.

A Legacy of Life Through Organ Donation

Biswajit’s donation stands as a powerful example of how one life lost can give hope and health to others. His family's decision has brought relief to two families and serves as a call for greater awareness and participation towards organ donation.
