As winter grips Odisha more tightly, Mercury declines; IMD forecasts further declines in the days ahead.

Odisha's minimum temperature kept dropping, with Bhubaneswar seeing a notable decline in recent days. Over the last four days, the temperature in the state capital has dropped by 4.6 degrees Celsius. Records show that at 5:30 a.m., Bhubaneswar's temperature was 16.2 degrees Celsius, down from 20.8 degrees on November 7.
Interior areas like Koraput, Sundargarh, and Kandhamal are starting to see mild winter conditions. According to the Meteorological Centre, daytime and nighttime temperatures in a number of regions have dropped by two to three degrees Celsius as a result of dry, chilly winds coming into the state from the northwest. Temperatures have dropped below 15 degrees Celsius in Daringbadi, Phulbani, and Jharsuguda.

Additional Temperature Drop Anticipated
The Meteorological Centre predicts that during the next two to three days, the temperature could drop by an additional 3 to 4 degrees Celsius. However, because of the effect of western winds this year, there won't be a persistent cold wave. The winter will endure less time, according to officials, even though the cold is a little more severe than it was last year.
Even at eight in the morning on Monday, a sizable crowd reportedly gathered around tea stalls. Due to persistent rainfall and low pressure, residents reported that the winter began roughly 20 days later than expected.
"We are all waking up late as the cold suddenly came and temperatures dropped all of a sudden," remarked a Koida resident.
