Bihar election results explained: Tejashwis RJD receives votes, but the BJP and Nitish get seats.

In the state assembly elections, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), which led the Mahagathbandhan alliance in cooperation with the Congress in Bihar, performed poorly, winning only 25 of the 143 seats it ran for under the seat-sharing arrangement.
The RJD recorded the largest vote share of any party in these elections, which were counted on Friday, November 14, which is a kind of bright spot despite an awful result in terms of the number of seats won.
The RJD received 23% of the vote, a minor decrease from its 23.11% in the prior elections. In the most recent elections, the party fielded 144 candidates.

Vote share: what is it? Despite having the largest vote share, why did RJD lose?
The percentage of total votes that a political party or candidate receives in an election compared to the total number of votes cast is known as their vote share. A party's popularity or level of support among voters can be inferred by its vote share.
The fact that RJD received the largest vote share suggests that in some constituencies, it might come in second or third, receiving a large number of votes but not enough to win. That increases their overall vote share but not the number of seats they hold.
Additionally, it implies that even if they receive a large number of votes overall, those votes might have been squandered in seats where they lost or won by slim margins.

The fact that RJD ran for more seats than either the Janata Dal (United) or the National Democratic Alliance's (NDA) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which each ran for 101 seats, is another factor contributing to a bigger vote share. Since even the party's losing candidates increase the vote share, RJD had 42 additional constituencies to gather votes.
The BJP received 1,00,81,143 votes, while the RJD received 1,15,46,055.

Only six of the 61 seats that the Congress ran for were won by RJD's supporters in the Mahagathbandhan.
Mahagathbandhan's total number of seats was limited to 35 after the CPI(ML)L won two seats, the CPI(M) won one, and the CPI won none.
The NDA won 202 seats, with the largest contribution coming from the BJP (89), followed by the JDU (85), Union minister Chirag Paswan's Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) (19), Union minister Jitan Ram Manjhi's Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) (5), and Rajya Sabha MP Upendra Kushwaha's Rashtriya Lok Morcha (4).
