The focus of Japan Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's three-day visit to India is bilateral relations and trade. The 16th India-Japan Summit is being held in New Delhi.
Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal stated that India cherishes its trading relationship with Japan and is eager to advance it in the next phase of the alliance.
Goyal stated that investments have been the main focus of Japan's interaction with India in an interview with NDTV's Editor-in-Chief Rahul Kanwal at "The Indo-Japan Strategic Dialogue."He praised Japan's role in India's development, saying, "Maruti Suzuki came to India nearly 40 years ago and brought modern, affordable, technology-driven automobiles, which ultimately set India on track to become a global power in the auto sector."

"In May, Maruti Suzuki accounted for 1.47 lakh cars out of 4 lakh passenger vehicles sold in India," the minister said.
Goyal elaborated on Japan's involvement in particular industries, stating that the first freight corridor in India was constructed in collaboration with Japan in Odisha, aiding in the evacuation of iron ore.
The minister described the bilateral relationship as multifaceted, saying that India exports value-added items and acquires technology-driven products from Japan.We don't sell intermediates or raw ingredients. We supply premium, precisely engineered materials, vehicle parts, and electrical parts made in Japan. Thus, there are aspects of both commerce and investment in this connection," he stated.We support increased investment and commerce with Japan," Goyal continued.

The Bullet Train Project Is Back on Course
The 508-kilometer Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed rail route is one of the major India-Japan projects. Trains will operate at 320 km/h thanks to Japanese Shinkansen technology, reducing the trip time between the two cities from more than six hours to just over two hours.
Goyal blamed Maharashtra's former MVA government for the project's delays. He charged that land acquisition was being delayed "for the sake of politics" by the Uddhav Thackeray administration.Nearly all of the land on the Gujarat side had been secured, and we were on schedule. However, the MVA government did not allocate land for important stations, possibly out of animosity towards the Maharashtra people. The minister stated, "We lost a lot of time in the process."The station's land has been granted. "It seems like the project is now on track," he remarked.
Possibilities for Professionals in India
Goyal mentioned the healthcare industry as one of the potential for Indian experts in Japan. Goyal mentioned the need for qualified caregivers for Japan's aging population and stated that understanding Japanese culture and language could lead to opportunities for Indian medical professionals.Highly qualified caretakers are needed in Japan. However, knowing Japanese is a necessity, and it makes sense. The minister asked, "If not, how will they provide nursing care to the elderly in Japan?"It is enhanced if you possess both language proficiency and cultural awareness.
