A passenger bus travelling from Parjang in Dhenkanal to Bhubaneswar overturned midway, leaving more than 20 individuals seriously injured. The accident occurred at Kantiokteni under Tumusingha police station jurisdiction on Friday. The bus was reportedly carrying over 50 passengers at the time of the incident. Over 20 of them have sustained critical injuries and are currently undergoing treatment.

Passengers Alleged Muddy Roads Caused The Accident

Passengers alleged that the driver did not take the usual route and that the bus lost balance due to the muddy condition of the canal road. It has also been reported that the driver was unfamiliar with the route he was travelling when the accident occurred.

Rescue Operation Underway

Rescue operations are currently underway, with the fire department and local residents actively involved in assisting the injured. Patients were being taken to the Anlaberini Community Health Centre (CHC) for immediate treatment, as per the latest reports. 

Further arrangements are being made to transfer critically injured passengers to facilities equipped to provide advanced medical care.

Police Begin Investigation

Police have reached the scene and launched an investigation into the accident. The bus driver and conductor have reportedly fled the scene.
