By 2027, Odisha wants to produce 25 lakh "Lakhpati Didis," according to Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida

As part of its enlarged Mission Shakti empowerment campaign, the state government has set a goal to establish Lakhpati Didis in every family and Mahalakhpati in every village, according to Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida on Tuesday.
Speaking during the Mission Shakti session in Bhubaneswar, Parida emphasized that there are already 17 lakh Lakhpati Didis in Odisha, women who use self-help group (SHG) activities to generate a steady annual income.
According to her, the state government has set a lofty goal to raise this figure by 25 lakh by 2027.
"After January 14, the fair will start in 30 areas. I hope that many women will be Mahalakhpati Didi by the end of the event. Every family will have Lakhpati Didi, and every village would have Mahalakhpati Didi, according to Parida.

Interest Payment to Self-Help Groups in Odisha
Through the Mission Shakti Department, the government has paid interest to nearly 2.24 lakh self-help groups throughout the state, according to the Deputy Chief Minister. This program seeks to promote grassroots entrepreneurship and lessen the financial load on women-led organizations.
The state government sent an interest subvention of Rs 117.12 crore straight to SHG members' bank accounts on Tuesday.
The government has set a goal to offer interest assistance totaling Rs 700 crore for the current fiscal year. According to Parida, Rs 500 crore has already been paid out.Emphasis on Women's Economic Empowerment
Parida reaffirmed the government's commitment to women's financial independence, stating that every Odisha household should have "a Lakhpati Didi," a self-sufficient woman with a steady income.
It is anticipated that the establishment of Mahalakhpati in villages will improve rural lives in the state and further fortify the SHG ecosystem.
