Crispin Chettri, who has returned as head coach of the Indian women's football team, has named a 22-member squad for the FIFA Series 2026 competition in Kenya. On Saturday, the Technical Committee of the All India Football Federation (AIFF) proposed Chhetri to succeed Costa Rican Amelia Valverde, whose brief term ended recently. "Crispin Chettri has been reappointed as the head coach of India's women's national team. Chettri has chosen a 22-member squad for the friendly tournament, according to an AIFF announcement.
Chettri led the national team's qualification campaign for the 2026 Women's Asian Cup in Australia.With India failing to advance past the group stage, losing all three matches, the AIFF chose not to renew Amelia's contract, which ran until the end of the Asian Cup. The technical committee, lead by IM Vijayan, proposed that Indian names be considered to supersede the Costa Rican.
The 22-member squad and support personnel arrived in Nairobi on Tuesday for the four-nation event, which will take place during the FIFA International Women's Match Window in April.
The Blue Tigresses will face Kenya in the semi-final on April 11, while Australia and Malawi will play earlier that day.
The semi-final winners and losers will compete in the final and third-place play-off on April 15.
All matches will take played at Nairobi's Nyayo National Stadium.
The squad includes goalkeepers Adrija Sarkhel, Linthoingambi Devi Maibam, and Shreya Hooda.
Defenders include Astam Oraon, Juli Kishan, Martina Thokchom, Nirmala Devi Phanjoubam, Purnima Kumari, and Sarita Yumnam.
Midfielders include Aveka Singh, Babina Devi Lisham, Jasoda Munda, Priyadharshini Selladurai, Priyangka Devi Naorem, Sanfida Nongrum, and Shilky Devi Hemam.
Forwards: Karishma Shirvoikar, Kaviya Pakkirisamy, Lynda Kom Serto, Malavika P, Pyari Xaxa, Rimpa Haldar.
