Dan McGrath, a writer for The Simpsons, passes away at age 61 following a stroke.

Dan McGrath, whose real name was Daniel Anthony McGrath, was a legend. The educator, stage director, and television writer passed away on November 14, 2025, following a stroke.
McGrath studied Chinese and Japanese politics and history while growing up in Brooklyn, New York. He was an active writer, editor, and cartoonist for The Harvard Lampoon, an undergraduate honor journal, despite failing all of his Japanese classes.

The devastating news was posted on social media by Dan McGraths family. "Yesterday, my amazing brother Danny passed away. The statement continued, "He was a unique man.
"A wonderful friend, brother, uncle, and son. Gail McGrath Garabedian, his sister, posted on Facebook, "Our hearts are broken."She told The Hollywood Reporter that he had a stroke and passed away at NYU Langone Hospital in Brooklyn.
His mother, sister, two brothers, nephew, sister-in-law, and two nieces survive him.

McGrath worked as a computer game designer at MIT while attending Harvard. He had worked numerous hours at public clinics, hospitals, and emergency rooms prior to relocating to Hollywood.
