Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan and his wife Gauri Khan are among the power couples of Bollywood. Gauri has remained SRK's constant support system throughout his career. Gauri didn't just navigate the challenges with SRK, she also rose to fame and is currently one of the most celebrated interior designers in the country as well as a producer. But, did you know that Gauri was offered to act in films?
Notably, with Shah Rukh Khan's rise to fame, filmmakers started offering films to his wife Gauri. However, she rejected the offers. But, later she went on to work as a VJ and hosted a show before stepping into production and designing.
Earlier, during an interview, Gauri revealed that with her husband's increasing popularity, film offers had started coming her way, too. However, she always knew that acting wasn't the right path for her. Gauri turned down the offers as she wanted to stay true to herself.
She was quoted as saying, "I got a few film offers but it was so silly that just because your husband is into films, you automatically get acting offers. It made no sense at all. Just because you have the opportunity, you can't do something you're not inclined towards."
Further, she added, "Shahrukh would never let me act in any case. He is too possessive of me. He would rather die a million deaths than let me act or do even a small role in films."
Gauri's Stint as VJ
Though Gauri turned down film offers, she later went on to host a show on MTV. She showcased her hosting skills in the initial years of her career by hosting the weekly music countdown show called Oye, which aired during the 90s on MTV. With her hosting skills, Gauri garnered popularity among viewers.
Gauri Turns Producer
After pursuing her career as a VJ, she established the production house Dreamz Unlimited with her husband, SRK, in 1999, which was later transformed into Red Chillies Entertainment in 2002. As a producer, her first produced film was Main Hoon Na (2004). Later on, she produced several other movies such as Om Shanti Om, Paheli, My Name is Khan, Badla, and Student of The Year, which became blockbusters.

A few years later in 2014, Gauri launched her first concept store called The Design Cell located in Worli, Mumbai. After a year, she launched her own studio, Gauri Designs in Juhu, Mumbai.

Gauri: The Restaurateur
In 2024, Gauri also opened her first restaurant, Torri in Mumbai. While Torri offers a fusion of Latin and Asian cuisine, allowing guests an unforgettable dining experience, recently, the restaurant was in the headlines after a YouTuber claimed that fake Paneer was being served to the customers. The YouTuber conducted an iodine test on paneer served at the restaurants of different celebrities, including Virat Kohli, Shilpa Shetty, Bobby Deol and Gauri.
Soon after the video went viral, the restaurant Torri responded to the viral claims. They clarified that the claims were false and they stand by the purity of their paneer and the integrity of the ingredients at Torri.
