IAF to host Agniveer Vayu recruitment rally in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj from August 27; check details

The Indian Air Force (IAF) will conduct a major Agniveer Vayu recruitment rally in Mayurbhanj district from August 27 to September 4, 2025, as part of its nationwide Agnipath scheme.

The recruitment drive will be held at Baripada Stadium (Chhau Padia), Bhanjapur, and aims to enlist young men and women from 12 states, including Odisha, West Bengal, and several northeastern states.

According to reports, the rally will be conducted in three phases and will see participation from aspirants across Odisha, West Bengal, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand.

“Indian Air Force Agniveer Vayu Recruitment drive will be conducted in Mayurbhanj from 27th August to 4th September. Around 12 states of the nation will participate in it...The people from the tribal areas of Mayurbhanj will also participate in this drive,” said Collector and District Magistrate of Mayurbhanj, Hemakanta Say, to ANI.

Agniveer Vayu Selection Process:

The selection process for Agniveer Vayu recruitment includes multiple stages:

  • Physical Fitness Test (PFT-I & II)

  • Written Test (objective-type, bilingual in English & Hindi)

  • Adaptability Test-I and II

  • Medical Examination

The written exam will last 45 minutes, consisting of 20 questions from English (based on 10+2 CBSE syllabus) and 30 questions from Reasoning and General Awareness (RAGA). All tests will be held on the same day or over two days, depending on logistics.

Those who qualify will be medically examined in September at designated Air Force hospitals across India.

Qualification and Age Limit

Eligibility Criteria:

Candidates must be born between January 1, 2005, and July 1, 2008.

Educational qualifications vary by stream:

For non-science: 10+2 or equivalent with 50% aggregate and 50% in English, or

Two-year vocational course with similar marks, or

Three-year diploma in engineering with 50% aggregate and 50% in English.

Local Preparations Underway

In anticipation of the event, a preparatory meeting was held at the Mahatma Gandhi Conference Hall in the Mayurbhanj Collectorate, chaired by District Collector Hemakanta Say. Group Captain Sanjay Pattnaik, Commanding Officer of 9 Airmen Selection Centre, Bhubaneswar, outlined logistical plans and called for coordinated efforts between the district administration and the IAF.

Registration and Intake Schedule

This rally will facilitate selections for the Agniveervayu Intake 01/2026, with the last date to apply being September 14, 2025. For the Intake 02/2026, registrations close on August 4, 2025.

The rally is a key component of the Centre’s Agnipath scheme, aimed at attracting dynamic youth for short-term service in the armed forces. Freshers who qualify will serve a four-year tenure, with options to apply for permanent positions thereafter.
