If the DMK and AIADMK attempt to form a government, all 107 TVK MLAs will resign: sources

But earlier today, Governor RV Arlekar refused to allow Vijay to stake claim, saying he does not have the numbers. He also did not accept the plan Vijay had presented to reach the majority mark. Sources said the meet - the second in two days - ended with the Governor insisting that the actor-politician provide letters of support from 118 legislators.

The Governor "explained that the requisite majority support in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, essential for forming the Government, has not been established," according to a statement from Raj Bhavan.
Congress, which has five MLAs, already supports the TVK, which needs ten more seats to reach the majority threshold. For the balance of seats, negotiations are underway with the Left and a few smaller parties. According to insiders, the party intends to file a lawsuit.
Does DMK Have Plans for a Different Government?
During a meeting earlier today, the DMK passed four resolutions, one of which gave party leader MK Stalin the authority to make "emergency decisions".The DMK has called the lack of a majority a "complicated crisis" and requested that all of its MLAs stay in Chennai until May 10.
However, top DMK sources have acknowledged to NDTV that the DMK is considering a plan that would see E Palaniswami become Chief Minister with outside assistance.
A group of younger DMK politicians, including those in Udhayanidhi Stalin's camp, worry that Vijay will resemble MG Ramachandran if he takes office and that it will be nearly impossible to remove him. For the duration of his life, the renowned MGR was able to prevent the DMK from taking power.
According to sources, MK Stalin and other senior party leaders are still not persuaded.

They fear a huge backlash and are concerned about how the public will respond to an experiment that puts two parties that have been at odds for decades on the same boat.
AIADMK in Watch and Wait Mode
The AIADMK has also taken a similar action, asking its MLAs to observe. Although some party members are keen to form an alliance with TVK, the party's senior officials have categorically rejected this idea.
More than forty-five MLAs attended the meeting with Palaniswami this evening. He informed them that there is currently no connection between TVK and AIADMK and that poaching is not an issue. The AIADMK urged its MLAs to remain composed and hold off for an additional two days.

Parties Are Upset by the Governor's Position
TVK's potential supporters are likewise displeased with the governor's position.
As the single largest party, TVK must be given an opportunity by the Governor, in accordance with the Constitution, to prove its majority on the floor of the Assembly. The CPI's Tamil Nadu unit has urged the Governor to act in accordance with the Constitution, noting that it is "inappropriate" for him to ask Vijay to prove his majority prior to the oath ceremony. The CPI noted in a statement that the Supreme Court of India has upheld this idea in a number of rulings, including the SR Bommai case.

Thol Thirumavalavan, the chief of Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi, or VCK, stated that Vijay is requesting support since he has become the state's largest party and ought to be permitted to assume government after demonstrating a majority on the assembly floor. "A list of supporters of TVK cannot be demanded by the governor. He is unable to ask, "Who is helping you?" "Come for the swearing-in ceremony after bringing 118 and proving it to me," he continued.
The DMK has also shown support for the TVK. The governor's action has been deemed "unacceptable" and "a disrespect" to the mandate by the departing party. Vijay has also been defended by fellow actor Kamal Haasan.
