A businessman was allegedly killed in a violent knife attack in Boudh town, on Sunday. The victim, identified as Manoj Patra, was ambushed by four persons who arrived on a scooter, wielding knives. They severely stabbed him and looted his money.
Following the fatal attack, they absconded with Patra’s bag containing money. The incident occurred at Jagdishpur Chhak under Boudh police limits. Despite being rushed to a hospital, Patra succumbed to his injuries and was declared ‘dead’ by doctors.
The attack took place as Patra was heading towards his home when the perpetrators struck from behind. The exact amount of money stolen remains undisclosed. Police were quick to respond to the scene and have commenced a probe into the incident.
Local residents, angered by this shocking incident, have blockaded the national highway in protest, demanding justice and highlighting concerns over public safety.
“I have been working with him (Manoj Patra) for around 4-5 years. A goods-laden truck was being unloaded at our godown when I
went to the toilet. In the meantime, he left for his home, and some miscreants killed him,” an employee, Rajesh Mohapatra, said.
Earlier in another incident, a well-known businessman was murdered at his residence in Forest Colony, Baripada, on March 14. The deceased was identified as Snehasis Panda. The attack had sent shockwaves across the city, raising serious concerns about security.
