According to government estimates, India, the world's second-largest importer of refined copper, may need to acquire between 91% and 97% of its copper concentrate needs by 2047.In the fiscal year ending in March 2025, India's imports of copper increased by 4% to 1.2 million metric tonnes. According to the government, demand is predicted to increase to 3 to 3.3 million tonnes by 2030 and 8.9 to 9.8 million tonnes by 2047.
