According to a senior corporate official on Thursday, domestic mobile phone manufacturer Lava International intends to invest Rs 1,100 crore over the next five years to diversify its position in the electronics components ecosystem.
As part of its diversification in the electronics components ecosystem, Lava has set up a new mobile charger factory, according to Sanjeev Agarwal, Executive Director and Chief Manufacturing Officer. "We have the capacity to make 4 crore mobile phones." For value addition, we have chosen to manufacture every essential component ourselves. Over the next five years, we intend to invest Rs 1,100 crore in the diversification of electronics components," he stated.
According to Agarwal, Lava has begun producing designed-in-India mobile chargers with primarily locally sourced components as part of its diversification.In comparison to the devices we were previously utilising, the chargers that would be manufactured at our factory will cost 20% less, according to Agarwal.
As part of its diversification strategy, the company intends to begin producing camera modules, display modules, enclosures, and multi-layered printed circuit boards, he continued.
According to Sunil Raina, managing director of Lava International, the company has filed its proposal for the fabrication of components for government clearance under the Electronics Components fabrication Scheme.
