As reported on Thursday, the investigation into the Odisha police Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment fraud has officially been taken over by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). After the official notification was released, the CBI's Bhubaneswar branch filed a case. The investigation will be led by a Deputy Superintendent Police (DSP)-rank officer, who will oversee a committed team that will carry out a thorough probe.
The CBI has now received all relevant papers from the Crime Branch, which was previously conducting the probe. It is anticipated that the CBI inquiry would start on Thursday. According to reports, the CBI will concentrate on finding and capturing those who worked behind the scenes, even though the Crime Branch has already detained almost everyone directly involved in the scheme.
Arrest of a Key Associate
Sagar Gouda, a close friend of the suspected mastermind Shankar Prusty, was taken into custody by the Crime Branch on Wednesday. According to reports, Shankar kept in touch with agents via Sagar, who was allegedly running the Digha module connected to the fraud.
Additional Connections To Other Unusual Hiring Practices Anticipated
According to sources, the results of the SI recruiting scam investigation may reveal links to more anomalies pertaining to exams. The Orissa High Court ordered a new test after finding Silicon Tech's ASO primary examination to be inadequate.
According to insiders, the Crime Branch will no longer be in charge of the case, but it might help the CBI if new information or evidence comes to light while the inquiry is underway.
