Four people were questioned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday in relation to the Odisha Police Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment scam. This was the first stage of questioning since the agency formally took over the investigation earlier this month.
Ten people were reportedly called, but only four showed up for the investigation, according to sources. At the CBI office in Bhubaneswar, the interrogation went on for about eight hours. A candidate who was previously detained by the Odisha Crime Branch and subsequently freed on bond is among those questioned.
According to reports, the marathon session started at 3 p.m. and lasted until about 11:30 p.m. After being questioned, all four of them were let to depart. Information submitted during these meetings will be cross-checked with documents and electronic evidence that have already been gathered, according to investigators.
CBI Investigation Started Following Center Notification
The interview comes after the Government of India issued a notification on November 11 authorizing a CBI investigation into the irregularities in SI recruitment. The Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions issued the directive.
Allegations of exam data manipulation and unauthorized access to digital systems during the hiring process are at the center of this dramatic case. The CBI is currently investigating who enabled the purported manipulation, how it happened, and whether any financial transactions took place.Examining Previous Crime Branch Findings
Shankar Prusty, the main suspect, was placed under judicial custody by the Odisha Crime Branch after several rounds of questioning prior to the probe's transfer.
The head of Panchsoft Technologies, Shankar Prusty, and another accused, Silicon Tech owner Suresh Chandra Nayak, were the subjects of a polygraph test that the Crime Branch requested permission to administer earlier this month in a Berhampur court.
CBI will keep issuing summonses and emphasize digital evidence.
According to sources, the final six people who were summoned are anticipated to show up today. In the meantime, the CBI is looking into digital logs related to the hiring process, communication records of the accused, and records of organizations connected to the online test.
As part of the probe, the government is anticipated to request additional technical papers from servers connected to the hiring process and commercial software companies.
